About Chris Hope and Backup My Web

chris hopeBackup My Web is run by Chris Hope, a New Zealand website developer (pictured right). I have been managing Linux hosting servers since 1999 and backing up my customers' websites and databases to CD and DVD on a regular basis since 2003.

The Backup My Web service was started in 2009 to open this service up to the wider world. It's so important to have a backup copy of your website and database in case something goes wrong, such as an issue with your web hosting provider or website developer, and having a copy of your website archived on CD (and online) gives peace of mind.

Even having an archived copy of your website can be extremely useful and I have found myself in this position many times before; being able to reach for a point-in-time copy of one of my websites on CD has been invaluable.

I run and maintain a number of my own websites and a few for my customers; I am primarily a PHP and MySQL developer but have also done development work using ASP, .NET and Microsoft SQL Server. I should have no issues backing up most websites and databases for you.
